I just read your last several entries. I hope the depression/cultural adjustment gets better. It sucks enough to be depressed at home...it must be even worse to be depressed thousands of miles away. I'm glad you got a new camera. You seem to like taking pictures. Hopefully that'll help a bit, if nothing more than to pass some time.
That sucks about the loogied abaya. How rude! Oh, and about hijabs falling off, they sell hijab pins. Some are plain-looking and some are more decorative. My guess is for Yemen, plain would suffice :) I was constantly adjusting mine up at the mosque. I was paranoid my hair was showing in front (which it was, hence the constant tugging forward) but I tried wrapping it the other day (it's the long rectangular kind) and putting a couple pins in it and voila! It stayed! I even moved my nodded my head and turned it like I was looking behind me and it was all good.
i was in the yemen. i don't eat ramen and i don't drink beer. i love cheese. actually i love a lot of things. i am continually thankful for healthy bowels. the psalms frustrate me and make me want to curl up with gibran. i think about jesus (and his kitsch) more than the average person.
